April D. Christopherson, OTR/L
April is a Pediatric and Neurological Occupational Therapist with over 35 years of experience supporting clients across the lifespan, from infancy to geriatrics. As the founder of Exploration Kids Therapy Clinics and owner of Rooted Foundation OT, she specializes in developing comprehensive, whole-body, and environmental solutions for individuals with acute and developmental disabilities. An esteemed international speaker and consultant, April integrates clinical evidence with nature-based and brain-training strategies—including Interactive Metronome, IMHome, The Listening Program, Sleep Genius, and BrainBeat—to build strong foundations for lasting independence.
Her clinical work has also included hippotherapy, which uses the rhythmic movement of a horse to build core strength, balance, coordination, sensory regulation, and attention. It's a natural fit for her lifelong love of horses and the outdoors.
In addition to her clinical practice, April provides strategic business consulting for schools, corporations, non-profits, and small clinic owners. Having collaborated with top performers in the Allied Health field, she is passionate about sharing her expertise to help other healthcare professionals and organizations thrive.
April is a sought-after national and international speaker, frequently presenting at both in-person and virtual conferences. She is a dedicated educator and thought leader, having developed numerous courses for conference and online access, and regularly contributes articles and expert commentary to industry publications.
Committed to advancing her field, April serves on the Clinical Advisory Boards for Interactive Metronome and Ted Kangaroo, and brings extensive leadership experience from her service on the boards of various non-profit and for-profit organizations.
April received her dual degrees in Psychology and Occupational Therapy at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA in 1991. She is married to Reid and enjoys family time with their four grown children, two spouses, three grandbabies and all the dogs. You'll often find Reid and April exploring the Cimarron Wilderness in Colorado and relaxing at their cabin with extended family, good friends and good food!
